Belarusian medics have much to teach Russian colleagues, Russian healthcare minister says

Belarusian medics have much to teach Russian healthcare specialists, Russian Healthcare and Social Development Minister Tatiana Golikova said during the joint session of the boards of the Belarusian and Russian healthcare ministries in Moscow on November 13, reproted Belta.

"Our Belarusian colleagues have many achievements we, in Russia, only strive to reach," she said. "Meanwhile, Russian medics can share their experience".

Discussions about the progress in implementing the intergovernmental agreement on the availability of healthcare services for Belarusians in Russia and Russians in Belarus were the key issue on the agenda. Tatiana Golikova remarked, healthcare cooperation of the two countries is not confined within the document. In particular, preparations for ratifying a Belarusian-Russian agreement on cooperation in supplies and production of medications are close to completion in Russia. "I hope our board will expedite the interaction in the medical industry," said the Russian minister.

During the session the head of the Healthcare and Social Development Ministry suggested setting up a joint working group, which will determine cooperation priorities. According to Tatiana Golikova, aid to victims of the Chernobyl catastrophe and cooperation in enhancing oncological aid to individuals in the two countries are priorities.

Apart from that, the parties agreed to work out and sign an interagency agreement, which, according to Tatiana Golikova, will become the foundation for cooperation between the Belarusian Healthcare Ministry and the Russian Healthcare and Social Development Ministry.
