Communist party should not be part of Belarusian opposition - activist

MINSK. Nov 3 (Interfax) - The participants in a forum titled 'To the Future Without Communism', which is underway in Minsk on Saturday, have demanded expelling the Party of Communists of Belarus from the united Belarusian opposition ranks.

"It is really bad that a party which is called Communist and which has still not repented the crimes committed by the Communist regime is still part of the united opposition," said Vyacheslav Sivchik, a prominent Belarusian opposition leader.

"There are a lot of politicians here, who, I hope, will make sure that Communist flags not fly over our heads when we march during our celebratory events," Sivchik said.

The forum was designed as an alternative to an international meeting of leftwing parties also held in Minsk on Saturday.
