Belarus, Uzbekistan call repudiate country resolutions

Belarus and Uzbekistan submitted to the Third Committee of UN General Assembly a draft resolution, which calls to repudiate practice of condemnation of countries for human rights violations, except cases connected with genocide, ethnic cleaning and crimes against humanity.

The authors of the project "Encouragement of equal and mutual respect in human rights' dialogue" offered to refuse from "politically motivated and biased resolutions on human rights in separate countries". The authors said such resolutions seriously undermine principles on objectiveness and non-selectivity in consideration of human rights issues and only harms.

"General Assembly underlines necessity to ensure that resolutions on human rights in separate countries used only in mass human rights violations, connected with genocide, ethnic cleaning and crimes against humanity," the draft resolution said.

The resolution urged UN member-states to continue international cooperation in encouragement and assistance to respect human rights to strengthen dialogue and deepen understanding between civilizations, cultures and religions.
