Belarus president officially seen off

Visiting Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko here on Tuesday morning was given an official farewell by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad at the end of his two-day official visit to Tehran.

President Lukashenko arrived in Tehran Sunday evening heading a high-ranking politico-economic delegation for talks with Iranian officials.

During the farewell ceremony held at the Presidential Office, the national anthems of the two countries were played and the two presidents reviewed a guard of honor.

The Belarussian president, during his two-day visit, held talks with President Ahmadinejad and Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei.

The two presidents signed a memorandum of understanding on expansion of bilateral cooperation.

Lukashenko and his accompanying delegation on Tuesday paid tribute to the Father of the Islamic Revolution, the late Imam Khomeini, by visiting his mausoleum and laying a wreath on his tomb.
