IRNA chief: Closer IRNA-BeITa ties to strengthen relations between Iran, Belarus

Managing Director of the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) Jalal Fayyazi in a meeting with his counterpart from Belarus News Agency (BeITa), Dmitri Zuk, here Monday said that closer ties between the two news agencies will be effective in strengthening Iran-Belarus relations.

He noted that all countries striving to be independent are subject to media attacks, adding that therefore, both Iran and Belarus are suspected by the enemies.

The official hoped that cooperation between the two news agencies and exchange of reporters between the two states will further introduce the realities of the two states to each other's nations and strengthen ties.

He expressed confidence that the two news agencies will play effective roles in development of ties between the two governments by providing state officials with information based on reality.

For his part, Fayyazi hoped that exchange of visits between the head of two states will provide the grounds for more profitable cooperation and that the reports on the tours will leave their positive impact on the public opinion.

"Despite the adversity of the enemies, Iranian people are determined to raise the level of their scientific knowledge and social stance.

"Ever since the victory of Islamic Revolution and Iran's political independence, the Iranian people have been making decisions on current affairs, which accounts for the fury of its enemies," he added.

Zuk called on Fayyazi to dispatch a team of reporters to Belarus capital of Minsk to get an idea on the facts of the country to reflect it to the Iranians.

He proposed his Iranian counterpart to visit Belarus before President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's tour to the country and confer with President Alexander Lukashenko on matters of bilateral concern.

"Belarus nation recognizes Iran for its ancient civilization and as a powerful and modern regional country.

"It is a country which is not likely to accept developments which are forced upon it, rather it determines its own trend of events," he added.

At the end of meeting, the draft of a cooperation agreement was exchanged, which will be signed at the meeting of presidents Ahmadinejad and Lukashenko in Tehran.
