Tehran, Minsk Stress Joint Views

TEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and his Belarusian counterpart Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed in a press conference here on Monday morning that their countries share identical views in the face of global issues.

Also during the conference, Ahmadinejad described both countries as mighty and independent states with desirable ties in various fields, and said that Tehran and Minsk have always enjoyed deep relations ever since Belarus gained its independence.

He further added that the two countries' growing ties are a product of their fully identical views regarding the different world issues.

The president stated that both Iran and Belarus are decisive to further deepen their relations, mentioning that the two sides would discuss and reach agreements in political, economic, cultural, tourism, trade, industrial and other grounds.

Reiterating that there resides no impediment in the way of expanding relations with Belarus, Ahmadinejad assured that Lukashenko's visit to Tehran would serve as a cornerstone in the two countries' ties.

For his part, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko appreciated Ahmadinejad's invitation to him for paying a visit to Iran, and pointing that a large number of directors, officials, experts and managers are accompanying him in the current visit, he voiced his country's firm resolve to hold agreements with Iran in different grounds ranging from training and education to economic issues.

"Belarus is an independent country and we do not at all feel restricted in developing ties with Iran," Lukashenko stressed.

He further highlighted the two countries' common views about international relations, and called for the consolidation of Iran-Belarus trade and economic cooperation and relations.

The Belarusian President also assured that the two countries' cooperation would undergo an outstanding increase following his meeting with President Ahmadinejad.
