Leader of Union of Poles in Belarus is witness in drugs case -Belarussian customs official

MINSK. Oct 31 (Interfax) - The leader of the unregistered Union of Poles in Belarus, Andzelika Borys, is a witness in a criminal drugs case, chief of the Grodno regional customs Yury Senko told Interfax. Criminal proceedings were launched in relation to the discovery of drugs in a car in which she was crossing the Belarussian state border, he said.

"Borys was traveling as a passenger in the car. She does not own it, therefore she is a witness in the case," he said.

"White powder testing positively for amphetamine was discovered inside the car's rear view mirror," he added.

Earlier Interfax was told at the State Customs Committee that it had been heroin.

Borys was returning from Vilnius together with two other persons when the discovery was made.
