Moldovan President to participate in CIS Summit in Minsk

Chisinau, 27 November /MOLDPRES/- Moldovan President Vladimir Voronin is to participate in a summit of the heads of state of the Commonwealth of Independent States' member countries, due in Minsk, Belarus, on 28 November.

One of the 21 basic issues planned to be considered during the summit is a report on enhancing the CIS effectiveness and prospects for the organisation's development. The document is to be unveiled by a high-level group, created to this end.

At the same time, the presidents of the CIS countries are to consider a draft agreement on setting up the council for humanitarian collaboration within the CIS area, a draft declaration of the heads of state on boosting the cooperation in combating illegal migration, a protocol on operating amendments and completions to the agreement on the status of the CIS Economic Law Court, signed in July 1992 etc.

The top leaders are also to tackle the setting up of a free economic zone in the CIS area, proposal which has been earlier submitted by Moldova.

Anther six additional issues have been included in the agenda.

According to Belarussian media outlets, participating in the event will be 11 presidents of Belarus, Moldova, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Ukraine.
