Belarus Offered to Organize Assemblage of Tractors, Trucks and Buses in Ganja Car Factory

The Azerbaijani Economic Development Minister Heydar Babayev met with the delegation headed by the Belarusian Deputy Minister of Industry Valentine Gurinovich. The delegation included the heads of the Minsk Tractor Plant and Production Unit "BelAvtoMaz", Trendreports with reference to the statement of the Azerbaijani Economic Development Ministry.

Babayev highlighted a great importance of the development of the relations between the two countries and that the visit of the Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to Belarus in October 2006 fostered the development of the co-operation. He spoke about the economical situation and investment opportunities of Azerbaijan. He said that there is a large potential for the development of the economic relations between Azerbaijan and Belarus. The trade turnover between the two countries in 2005 amounted to $19,3 mln, but this amount does not satisfy the sides, the Minister said. Babayev invited the Belarusian business people to an active co-operation within the projects financed by the Azerbaijan Investment Company. In his turn, Gurinovich highly assessed the possibilities for the expansion of the co-operation and mentioned the readiness of Belarus to provide all kinds of assistance in the development of the co-operation. Within the visit, the Belarusian delegation has already got familiarized with the activities of three machine-building plants and offered to set up the assemblage of the tractors, trucks and buses in Azerbaijan. Real opportunities are presented by Ganja car factory, Belarusian Deputy Minister said, adding that it will help to create new workplaces. He said that one of the directions of the future co-operation is in construction of elevators. He also said that the study of the experience in various spheres of economy may bring benefits to both countries. Babayev expressed readiness to support the realization of the proposed projects.
