Byelorussians Ask Yushchenko to Protect Them From Lukashenka

A lot of famous Byelorussian workers of culture, human right defenders and oppositional politicians appeal to President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko to defend civil society and democratic institutions in Belarus.

Byelorussian activists wrote about that in the open letter to the President of Ukraine.

"Due to your numerous declarations of your responsibilities to support the democracy development in the whole world and help the nations with authoritarian system of government, and also due to your faithfulness to the ideals of Maidan, we appeal to you to condemn publicly the present regime in Belarus," says the appeal.

Also the activists appeal to Yushchenko "to forbid Ukraine for Byelorussian officials and persons suspected in the elections falsifications and in disappearance of famous civil and political activists."

The letter was signed by the writer Vladzimir Arlov, one of the leaders of non-government organization "Partnership" Enira Bronitska, human right defenders Ales Bieliatskiy and Valentin Stepanovich.

Also the musician of Neuro Dubel group Alexandr Kullinkovich and the musician of Cyrvonym Pa Bielym group Ambasadar Krov, the film director Yuriy Khashchevatskiy, the leader of trade union Alexandr Bukhvostov, the leaders of United Civil Party Anatoliy Pavlov and Liudmila Griaznova signed the document.

As known, on Thursday President of Belarus Alexandr Lukashenka expressed the hope that Ukrainian governance would refrain from the estimation for political situation in Belarus.
