China to assess prospects for military cooperation with Belarus

Minsk. November 22. (Interfax) - The Chinese Defense Ministry will send two delegations to Belarus this week to work on expanding military ties with the country, sources in the Belarussian Defense Ministry told Interfax on Monday.

During its November 24 to 29 visit, the first delegation, which will be led by the Chinese People's Liberation Army's medical service deputy head Maj. Gen. Zhang Wang Liang, will meet with Belarussian Defense Ministry logistics support chief Maj. Gen. Ivan Chikalov, the sources said.

Military district commander Col. Gen. Li Qian Yuan will lead the second Chinese delegation.

"The second delegation will visit Belarus to study opportunities to expand military cooperation between the two countries," the sources said.

During his November 25-28 visit, General Li will meet with Belarussian Defense Minister Col. Gen. Leonid Maltsev.
