Belarus parliament adopts statement on relations with Russia

The National Assembly of Belarus (the Belarusian parliament) has adopted a statement on the Belarusian-Russian relations at a joint session of the Council of the Republic and the House of Representatives on Thursday. The ministers expressed their concern over the worsening of the bilateral relations.

On the eve of the presidential election in Belarus, false allegations about the country's leadership are being spread and doubts cast on the strategic partnership with Russia and many joint projects, the statement read.

Earlier the State Duma, the lower house of the Russian parliament, issued a statement condemning an anti-Russian statement by Belarus president Alexander Lukashenko who is now running for reelection. The State Duma advocated for keeping neighborly relations between Russia and Belarus.
