Lithuania: The President-led delegation goes to Belarus

VILNIUS - On Wednesday, October 20, a delegation led by President of the Republic of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaite goes for a one-day visit to Minsk.

President Dalia Grybauskaite will meet with President Alexander Lukashenko of Belarus to discuss regional cooperation within the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) to be chaired by Lithuania next year.

According to the President, because OSCE places much focus on human rights and democratic developments, transparent and open presidential election in Belarus due to take place on December 19 will top the agenda of the visit.

Lithuanian Foreign Minister Audronius Azubalis, who will accompany the President during the visit, plans to sign an agreement on cross-border movement between Lithuania and Belarus to facilitate travels for citizens of both of the countries who live within a 50 km radius from the border.

The President also plans to discuss with her Belarusian counterpart Lithuanian-Belarusian cooperation in the energy sector.
