Iran, Belarus to expand trade, tourism ties

TEHRAN -- Belarusian Ambassador to Tehran Victor Rybak met with Director of Iranian Customs Administration Ardeshir Mohammadi in Tehran on Sunday and reviewed ways of expanding trade ties between the two countries.

The Belarusian official called for enforcing the MOU which was signed in September 2004 on customs cooperation between the two states, the Mehr News Agency reported.

Rybak said trade volume from 2006 to 2008 has doubled and this shows the suitable grounds for expansion of trade ties and customs relations between Minsk and Tehran.

He said, "From our viewpoint economic relations between the two countries have a bright horizon and greater recognition and familiarity between the two countries tradesmen will increase business."

Mohammadi expressed Iran's readiness to increase the level of cooperation in customs affairs and trade, adding that establishing permanent and temporary exhibitions would help increase trade between Iran and Belarus.

He stated that the Islamic Republic has great capabilities in manufacturing and exporting products to that country, adding that the two countries officials' motivation in this regard will further expand bilateral business.

Elsewhere in Minsk, the governor generals of Minsk and Tehran had a meeting in which the two sides agreed to build an amusement park, cooperate in the production of agro products and the construction sector.

Tehran Province Governor General Morteza Tamaddon told the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting that Persepolis Park will be built in Minsk in Iranian style by Iranian specialists and investors.

Minsk Province Governor General Leonid Krupets said that Belarus is willing to offer special services to Iranian investors and expressed hope that they would have a stronger presence in that country
