Belarus-Moldova trade 71.4% up in January-August

In January-August 2008, the trade between the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Moldova reached $247.4 million, 71.4% up over the same period of 2007, the press service of the Economy Ministry told BelTA.

Exports almost doubled to $183.7 million, imports grew 24.3% ($63.7 million). Over the eight months of 2008, Belarus' trade surplus totaled $120 million, $78.1 million up over the same point last year.

Belarus' exports to Moldova increased mainly due to the supplies of oil products, liquefied gas, tractors including truck tractors, fibreboards, tyres, ethylene polymers, plywood, lime and other products.

In January-August 2008, Belarus' exports soared 2.4 times to Kyrgyzstan, 1.9 times to Tajikistan, 1.9 times to Georgia, 1.6 times to Uzbekistan, 1.4 times to Azerbaijan.
