Egypt, Belarus Ask Rostekhnadzor to Train Nuclear Supervision Inspectors

MOSCOW. Oct 24 (Interfax) - The Belarusian and Egyptian authorities have asked the Russian Federal Service for Ecological, Technical and Atomic Supervision (Rostekhnadzor) to train their inspectors engaged in nuclear energy supervision, Rostekhnadzor spokesman Yevgeny Anoshin said.

"The Russian nuclear supervision service has great traditions and our inspectors are rendering assistance to many countries that want to create and develop nuclear energy," he said.

"It is premature to say anything about this training. We received these requests very recently," he said.

Rostekhnadzor intensively participates in the work of such international organizations as the IAEA and the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development

(OECD) Nuclear Energy Agency, Anoshin said. Rostekhnadzor has agreements and memorandums on nuclear and radiation security with 26 world nations including Belarus.

Belarus and Egypt are listed among the countries planning to build their own nuclear power plants in the near-term.
