Belarus ratifies air communication agreements with South Korea, Vietnam

The House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus ratified an agreement on air communication with South Korea and Vietnam on October 3.

Presenting the bills First Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications of Belarus Nikolai Verkhovets said that the agreement with South Korea is similar to the international agreements signed and ratified with more than 40 countries.

According to the agreements, the assigned airline of each side will be able to make on-route flights over the territory of the state without landing, make non-commercial stops on the territory of these countries, load and unload passengers, freights and mail at any on-route point.

According to the agreement with Vietnam, each of the side gives the other side the right to ensure international air communication.

Every party of the agreement can also ask for consultations on the standards concerning the crew safety and the aircraft exploitation adopted by the other side. Besides, the sides are set to provide all necessary assistance in preventing illegal seizure of civil aircrafts and other illegal acts threatening the safety of aircrafts, their passengers and crews, airports and air navigation facilities.

In line with the agreements, passengers, luggage and freight transiting the territory of one of the states and not leaving the designed area of the airport are not subject to inspection except for safety and drugs control measures or special cases. Luggage and freight transiting the territory of one of the states are exempted from taxes, customs duties and fees.
