Very good prospects of promoting relations with Europe - Belarus President

Belarus has very good prospects regarding mutual relations with Europe, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko told BelTA when asked to comment on the European Union's partial removal of sanctions from Belarus and possible prospects of developing cooperation with the European Union.

"All hindrances and barriers to the dialogue with the European Union have been removed. At least the key result is that we can talk to Europe not over the iron curtain or the Berlin wall. It means a lot, you must agree. I understand that Europeans (it has been confirmed) felt uneasy about these sanctions," stressed the President.

In his words, Europe has made "albeit a small step or half a step in this case but an important one". "We will make a lot of steps in this direction. We will definitely reach understanding with Europeans that we live in the same home and the heart of the home is here, in Belarus. Europeans probably understand it," added the head of state.

Alexander Lukashenko said, Belarus highly appreciates the steps Europe has made. "I know it was complicated because there are 27 countries in the European Union and any of them could block the decision. There were such countries. But they abandoned this view. I appreciate it a lot. I think we have good prospects concerning mutual relations with Europe," said the President.
