34th session of Belarus-Russia State Union PA to take place in Moscow

The 34th session of the Parliamentary Assembly (PA) of Belarus-Russia State Union that opens in Moscow on October 16 will be the last one in its current convocation. The next session will be preceded by a rotation of the Belarusian deputation to include the parliamentarians of the National Assembly new convocation, BelTA learnt from the PA press service.

The Union State budget 2009 will top the agenda of the session.

On October 16, all the major characteristics of the draft budget will be considered in the first reading. On October 17, in the second reading, the deputies will focus on the draft budget items.

The session of the Union State Council of Ministers that had been recently held in Minsk approved the draft budget of nearly RUR5 billion. The Russian assignments to the budget will total RUR3 billion 167 million, the Belarusian assessments - RUR1 billion 705 million.

After the PA adopts the Union State budget 2009, it will be submitted to the Supreme State Council of the Union State.

The parliamentarians will also discuss the report of the Union State Council of Ministers concerning the Union State budget performance in 2006 and measures to improve the budgetary processes. The session will consider and introduce amendments and addenda to the Union State budget 2008. The issue of setting up a scientific and consultative council of the Parliamentary Assembly of Belarus-Russia Union State will be also on the agenda of the session.
