Relations With Osce Pa Will Not Be Affected By Election Assessment - Speaker

MINSK. Oct 1 (Interfax) - The assessment by the OSCE (Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe) observers of the parliamentary elections held in Belarus cannot affect the relations between the country's new parliament and the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, said Vadim Popov, who chairs the House of Representatives of the Belarusian National Assembly.

"There is absolutely no doubt or fear that it would ruin the cooperation process," Popov said on Wednesday, responding to a question posed by Interfax.

"These contacts will only expand," he said.

"You can rest assured that everything will be okay," Popov said.

"Mrs. Lizin [Anne-Marie Lizin, head of the OSCE PA delegation at the elections] said a lot of positive things about the elections," he said.

"The political relations with the European Union and the United States are largely determined by economy," he said.
