Belarus speaker describes Tehran-Minsk ties as satisfactory

Belarusian Parliament Speaker Gnadi Novitski said that there are appropriate grounds for Tehran and Minsk to expand mutual cooperation including implementation of 25 joint agreements.

Novitski made the remark on the sidelines of the 117th meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in a meeting with Iranian Majlis Speaker Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel in Geneva, Switzerland.

The Belarusian speaker added that the project on producing Samand sedan in Belarus has become operational, and that joint investment projects are going ahead.

He further noted that Iran and Belarus share common stance on most of international issues, adding that both countries can expand bilateral relations particularly in parliamentary field.

Haddad-Adel, on his part, expressed satisfaction with the enhanced ties between the two countries, calling the relation as an appropriate pattern for regional states.

Iran considers Belarus as a reliable friendly country, he said, adding that Minsk has a special status in the Iranian parliament, and Iranian MPs have positive outlook on joint agreements between the two states.

Pointing to attempts by certain powers to put pressures on Iran and Belarus, he argued that they are concerned about the independence of the two countries.

"If we turn a blind eye on oppression and crimes against Palestinian people, we will never be accused of human rights violations in our countries," he noted.
