Tehran-Minsk ties moving ahead

Chairman of the Republic of Belarus National Assembly Council Gennady Novitsky has termed Tehran-Minsk relations as progressing.

In a meeting with Iran's Majlis Speaker Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel on the sidelines of the 117th Assembly of Inter Parliamentary Union in Geneva, Novitsky said that the implementation of the 25 accords between Iran and Belarus offers appropriate grounds for further cooperation.

The Belarusian official described the level of joint investment as satisfactory, saying Iran and Belarus share many features and the two parliaments can have an effective role in the expansion of cooperation.

Iran's Majlis speaker expressed delight over the strong Tehran-Minsk relations, saying such ties are a good example for other countries of the region.

"Belarus has attained a remarkable position among Iranian lawmakers. Bills related to Tehran-Minsk agreements are approved easily and quickly in Iran's Majlis," Haddad-Adel remarked.

The Iranian official cited Tehran and Minsk efforts for independence as the cause of foreign pressure on the two nations, adding that Iran considers Belarus to be a trustworthy friend.
