Belarus ratifies extradition treaty with India

Moscow, Oct. 7 (PTI): Belarus has ratified an extradition treaty with India that was signed by the two countries in April this year.

Presenting the treaty before Parliament last week, Deputy Justice Minister, Alexander Bilechik, said both India and Belarus commit themselves to extradite to each other persons who are accused or suspected of committing crimes on the territory of the signatories.

Bilechik said it was one of the elements of Belarus' five-year state programme of combating crime.

The treaty with the former Soviet republic was inked during Belarus President Aleksander Lukashenka's New Delhi.
