Russian PM Zubkov says Gazprom meeting 100 pct of supply commitments to Belarus

MOSCOW (Thomson Financial) - Russian Prime Minister Viktor Zubkov said OAO Gazprom 'is meeting and will meet its commitments' to supply natural gas to Belarus, Interfax reported.

Gazprom threatened in August to cut supplies to the former Soviet Republic if it did not pay about 500 mln usd in debts accumulated this year.

But the two countries reached an agreement on the debt repayment that same month.

Speaking at bilateral talks in Minsk, Zubkov also said his country would be willing to build a proposed nuclear power plant for its neighbour.

'Russia, with its experience in this field and existing potential, can make the most rational proposal for construction of a nuclear power plant with safety systems meeting world standards,' Zubkov said.
