Belarussian budget surplus 3.4% of GDP in 8 mths

MINSK. Oct 3 (Interfax) - Belarus had a budget surplus in the first eight months of the year of 2.011 trillion Belarussian rubles or 3.4% of GDP, a Finance Ministry source told Interfax.

Revenue totaled 22.781 trillion rubles or 71.2% of the adjusted plan for the year. VAT revenue totaled 3.786 trillion rubles (65.3% of the plan), excise totaled 1.746 trillion rubles (61.8%), and profit tax totaled 1.345 trillion rubles (61%).

Revenue on foreign economic activity totaled 3.7 trillion rubles or 99.7% of the plan for the year due to export duty for petroleum products.

Spending totaled 20.77 trillion rubles or 61.4% of the plan. General spending totaled 6.143 trillion rubles (67.8%), financing for the national economy and utilities totaled 3.662 trillion rubles or 50.8%, and social spending totaled 8.968 trillion rubles or 63.4%.

Revenue is planned at 31.976 trillion rubles, spending at 33.848 trillion rubles, and the deficit is planned at 1.872 trillion rubles or 1.9% of GDP.
