Does Poland import apples even from Belarus?

The representatives of Polish fruit&vegetable companies inform CIS produce business periodical "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" weekly, the imports of commercial apples have significantly intensified as a result of a high deficit for this product in the country. Commercial apples are supplied from Ukraine, Czech Republic, Slovakia and other countries to Poland; apples are shipped even from Belarus which used to be the importer of Polish apple traditionally.

The large-scale imports of commercial apples failed to fully cover the demand of the inner market; despite of this fact, the imports contributed to the stabilization of the prices on the level $0.4-0.44/kg if supplied to the processing enterprise in Poland. However, the traders think, the imports of commercial apple to Poland will be almost finished when frosts come. In the conditions of frosty weather the transportation costs will sharply increase.
