Belarus sees no reasons to recognize the independence of Transdniester

This declaration was made during an interview to the Bellorussian section of "Radio Liberty" by Vadim Popov, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committtee of the lower chamber of the Belarus Parliament.

"Belarus recognizes the territorial integrity of Moldova and does not see any reasons to initiate the question of recognizing the independent state status for Transdniester, We established diplomatic relations with Moldova, and Transdniester is a part of it. We never treated separately this part of the Moldovan state", stated Popov.

The reaction of the Belarus MPs came after the Suprem Soviet of Transdniester addressed to the parliaments of Russia, Ukraine and Belarus with the request to initiate the question of recognizing Transdniester.
