Activation of the dialogues at a high level will help expand Belarusian-Azerbaijani relations, the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenka told on October 17 in Minsk during the meeting with the Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Trend reports with reference to Balta.

According to the Belarusian Leader, the dynamically developing economy of the two countries and their significant production potential create mutual interest and make it necessary to carry out more active joint works for the larger spectrums.

According to Lukashenka, it is the first official visit of the Azerbaijani President to Belarus. "Today we have opportunities to discuss bilateral co-operation and define its future directions," the Belarusian Head underlined. According to him, in the near future, Azerbaijan and Belarus will realize large joint projects in the spheres of industry and energy.

Lukashenka satisfactorily stressed that over the short period, the trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Belarus grew drastically. For the year of 2005 the trade turnover reached almost $30 mln. It's an increase of more than 85% from 2004. "We should achieve significant volume of the trade turnover. I consider that it will happen after Aliyev's visit to Belarus," Belarusian President said.
