Four Rosh Hashanah Celebrations for Belarus City

MOGILEV, Belarus - Jews of the Belarus city of Mogilev enjoyed an extraordinary cheerful and broad festivity. Four Rosh Hashanah events occurred in this city over four days, involving more than 500 participants.

Children enrolled in elementary grades of the Jewish Day School, opened in Mogilev earlier this year, were the first to celebrate this holiday, putting on a joyful Rosh Hashanah performance. Kids from the Sunday School were the next to hold festivities, with its more than 60 pupils learning about the traditions and meaning of this holiday.

A larger event took place on October 3rd, as schoolchildren, their parents and grandparents - over 100 persons in total - gathered for another celebration, which included a concert and fun contests.

The next evening in the House of Culture, a wider celebration marking the Jewish New Year was organized for participants of 'Chesed' programs and community members. The festivity was very cheerful, observing all traditions of the holiday. Jewish children participated in a variety of contests and everyone joined in a festive banquet, which offered all the traditional dishes of Rosh Hashanah.
