Alexander Lukashenko praises Belarus-Moldova trade and economic relations

Belarus sees big prospects for development of trade and economic relations with Moldova, Belarusian president Alexander Lukashenko told premier of Moldova Vasile Tarlev October 5.

The Belarusian leader stressed that the present day Belarusian-Moldovan turnover "is not big for us, but earlier we could not imagine that even such a volume was possible". In 2004 the bilateral trade turnover reached a record high of USD 142 million.

According to Alexander Lukashenko Belarus and Moldova are already intensely cooperate in some fields. "We are normal, good, responsible partners", the head of state emphasized.

The Belarusian leader confirmed Belarus was ready to supply products to Moldova at reasonable prices and in the volume the Moldavian side was interested in. Belarus mainly exports oil products to Moldova, tractors, paving boards, ethylene polymers, medical preparations and refrigerators.

Moldova shows interest in the Belarusian market of foodstuffs and agricultural products, BelTA was informed in the presidential press service.

In turn Vasile Tarlev confirmed interest of Moldova in the cooperation with Belarus and its readiness to promote trade-economic relations, which positively developed. "To make the trade turnover USD 200 million is the minimum goal", he underscored.
