New joint programs aim at expansion of Armenian-Belarusian economic cooperation

Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan today received Trade Minister of Belarus Valentin Chekanov. He is the Co-chairman of the Armenian-Belarusian Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Issues. Chekanov has arrived in Armenia to attend Commission's 8th session that launched on September 27 in Yerevan.

According to the government press office, welcoming the guest the Prime Minister expressed satisfaction with the dynamic cooperation and high-level political dialogue between the two countries aimed at further expansion of bilateral friendly relations.

The interlocutors discussed prospects of expansion of trade and economic cooperation and stressed the necessity of complete realization of the current potential. They attached importance to the activities of the Armenian-Belarusian Intergovernmental Commission and opening of the Armenian-Belarusian Trade House.

Minister Chekanov presented the agreements related to concrete programs reached at the 8th session of the Commission. He also stressed progress in interregional cooperation.

Speaking about the necessity of strengthening humanitarian contacts Tigran Sargsyan attached importance to organization of Days of Armenian Culture in Belarus in 2011.

Upon the completion of the meeting Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan conveyed warm greetings to Belarusian Prime Minister Sergey Sidorski.
