Russian-Belarussian relations have no problems - Lukashenko

MINSK, September 19 (Itar-Tass) - Belarussian President Alexander Lukashenko said on Saturday there were no problems in Russian-Belarussian relations, except for existing trade barriers.

"There are absolutely no problems. We've agreed that the governments will coordinate a raft of economic issues for our meeting with the Russian president. There is the problem of lifting trade barriers, even indirect ones," he said.

"The more so this is a necessary precondition for the Customs Union that should start operation on January 1, 2010," Lukashenko said.

He underlined that if the governments do not waste words, they should lift this problem.

"We can agree on the remaining issues," Lukashenko said.

He noted that Russian President Dmitry Medvedev plans to visit Belarus in late September to observe West 2009 military exercise. Moreover, the two countries' leaders plan to discuss military and technical cooperation.
