Belarus begins to harvest buckwheat

Belarusian farmers have begun to harvest buckwheat, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Food.

Forecasts prepared by specialists from the cereal industry predict that Belarus will harvest nearly 15.000 tonnes of buckwheat, a four-fold increase compared to the previous year, and produce 10.000 tonnes of buckwheat cereal.

This follows the government offering a 50% increase in the purchase price of buckwheat to provide additional incentives for farmers to plant buckwheat crops.
