Belarus to select site for construction of nuclear power plant September 23- Chairman of the National Academy of Sciences

The site for the construction of the first Belarusian nuclear power plant will be selected on September 23, Chairman of the Presidium of the Belarusian National Academy of Sciences Mikhail Myasnikovich told reporters on September 23. The Energy Ministry of Belarus will hold the session dedicated to this issue on September 23, he added.

According to Mikhail Myasnikovich, all the three sites - the Ostrovetskaya site, the Krasnopolyanskaya site and the Kukshinovskaya site are applicable for the construction of the nuclear power plant, reported Belta.

Belarus intends to build a nuclear power plant with the productive capacity of 2 thousand megawatt with the first block being put into operation in 2016 and the second one in 2018.
