Polish border guards to leave Warsaw Bridge in Brest

On 15 September the Polish Border Guards will leave the so-called Warsaw Bridge border crossing on the Polish-Belarus border in Brest. The daily newspaper "Sovetskaya Byelorussia" writes that it is one of the requirements in respect of Poland's accession to the Schengen Zone.

The daily reminds that for the past 15 years, the customs control at the border crossing in Brest before entering the Belarus territory has been carried out by each country separately, while on entering Poland, the Polish and Belarus guards have been working together on the Warsaw Bridge.

From now on the Polish Border Guards will be working on the Polish side in Terespol. Construction work to modernise the border crossing point on the Polish side has been practically completed.
