Belarusian parliamentary chairman Konoplyov resigns

MINSK. Sept 11 (Interfax) - Belarusian House of Representatives Chairman Vladimir Konoplyov has tendered his resignation for health reasons, Belarusian parliamentary sources told Interfax on Tuesday.

Konoplyov was born in Akulintsy in the Mogilyov district in 1954.

From 1994 to 1996, Konoplyov was main aide to the president of Belarus.

He was also elected a member of the Presidium of the Belarusian Supreme Council.

In 1996, Konoplyov became deputy chairman of the House of Representatives, the lower chamber of the Belarusian parliament, the National Assembly.

On November 16, 2004, Konoplyov was elected chairman of the House of Representatives.
