PINSK (Belarus), September 1 (Itar-Tass) - The Polesye National University was opened on Friday, on the Day of Knowledge, in the old city of Pinsk, in Belarus. This is the second university, opened in Belarus during the years of independence.

"The state gave an excellent present to you - a modern university, which is no inferior to educational establishments in the capital or in other countries," Belarussian President Alexander Lukashenko said at the opening ceremony. "We are vitally interested in educating young people, for whom the prosperity of their native country is more important, than any paradise abroad."

The Polesye University was created by the order of the President on the basis of the Pinsk Higher Banking College under the National Bank of Belarus, as well as the branches of the Belarussian Economic University and the privately owned University of Management and Business.
