Belarus to Ratify Customs Agreement with Azerbaijan

The forthcoming Autumn session of the Belarusian Parliament is expected to endorse the Agreement between the governments of Belarus and Azerbaijan on co-operation and mutual assistance relating to customs affairs, Trend reports with reference to the statement of the Belarusian State Customs Committee.

The Agreement is said to assist the customs department of the two countries in preventing and exposing customs-related crimes and administrative law breakers. The document will help to fight contraband, illegal turnover of drugs, psychotropic substances, as well as antiques and art which represents historical and art values. In addition, the Agreement will ensure the exact calculation of customs payments and taxes.

The document will ensure that the parties will provide each other with necessary information, technical assistance including the exchange of evidence on persons suspected of breaking the customs legislation. While implementing the Agreement, both parties will use Russian language.

The Belarusian-Azerbaijani Agreement will expand the legal base of international co-operation that allows the protection of economical interests of the two countries.
