Belarus silent on Lukashenko's participation in CSTO summit

It is yet unclear whether Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko will attend the CSTO summit to be held in Armenia.

The President's press service refused to comment for NEWS.am on information spread by the Russian media according to which Lukashenko will not arrive in Armenia. "We do not comment on rumors spread by press, but give precise information. Information will be posted on the official website of Belarus President," the representative of press service said.

The CSTO summit will be held in Armenia on 21-22 August. The Russian media has repeatedly reported about strained relations between Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and Alexander Lukashenko for several days. Medvedev accused his Belarus counterpart of failure to fulfill his pledge to recognize independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia. In response, Lukashenko accused Russian President of distorting his remarks.
