RF asks Belarus to investigate bottle-hurling onto embassy grounds

MINSK, August 31 (Itar-Tass) - The Russian embassy in Belarus sent a note to the Belarusian Foreign Ministry with a request to investigate thoroughly a Monday incident when two bottles with incendiary mixture were hurled onto the grounds of the Russian diplomatic mission, Itar-Tass learnt from counsellor of the Russian diplomatic mission Vadim Gusev.

"The Russian embassy has sent on Tuesday a note to the Belarusian Foreign Ministry with a request to render assistance in holding a thorough investigation of the incident," he said. According to the counsellor, this was done to head off such incidents in future.

Two bottles with incendiary mixture were hurled over the fence onto the embassy grounds by unidentified people on Monday evening at around 22.20 local time. One of the bottles crushed through the rear window of the Mazda 3 office car. As a result, the car cabin was gutted. Russian diplomats reported the incident to the Belarusian competent bodies. This crime is now being investigated.

This is not the first time that such incidents take place on the grounds of the Russian embassy. For instance an unidentified person threw a grenade onto the grounds of the Russian diplomatic mission in Minsk several years ago.
