Agricultural organizations of Belarus to complete rapeseed harvesting campaign

Agricultural organizations of Belarus almost completed rapeseed harvesting campaign, declared the Ministry of Agriculture and Food.

As of August 18, agrarians harvested rapeseed throughout 93% of planned areas. The production volumes totaled 741 thsd tonnes of rapeseed, an increase of 144 thsd tonnes compared to the same date of the previous year. The widening of the sowing areas by 37.4% caused the growth of the harvest volumes.

Agricultural organizations prepare sols for the sowing campaign of winter rapeseed. To date, agrarians prepared 359 thsd ha of agricultural lands or 87.5% of planned areas, and sowed rapeseed throughout 178.9 thsd ha. In the current year, Belarus will increase winter rapeseed sowings by 50 thsd ha compared to the previous year - to 410 thsd ha. The government plans to increase rapeseed production to the level of 1 mln tonnes in the nearest 2 years.
