Fighter jet crashes in air show, two pilots killed

Two pilots of a Belarusian fighter plane were killed when there two seater plane crashed while showcasing air adventure at a Polish air show. Footage of the accident suggests that it might have occurred by birds hitting the engine.

IN A shocking incident, two pilots of a Belarusian fighter plane were killed when there two seater plane crashed while showcasing air adventure at a Polish air show on Sunday (August 30).

The unfortunate incident occurred in an air show festival organised in Radom air base, which is 105 km from the Polish capital Warsaw. According to the reports emanating from Radom-the Su-27 fighter jet during its exhibition of daring manoeuvres went down suddenly behind trees and a huge cloud of black smoke came out killing both the pilots instantly. Fortunately the ill fated Su 27 wasn't near crowd when the horrific incident took place.

An expert panel comprising Belarusian and Polish officials have started investigating the incident. Footage of the accident suggests that it might have occurred by birds hitting the engine or getting webbed.

The Belarusian defence ministry's spokesperson Vyacheslav Remenchuk said, had the pilots not propelled the plane away from the audience the accident could have been more severe-the pilots lost their lives but saved many other lives. According to Vyacheslav Remenchuk, the two pilots who met the shocking accident were Colonel Morfitsky who was working as a deputy commander at a Western Belarus Air Force unit and Colonel Zhuravlevich, a deputy commander at a fighter base.
