Belarus to stage Iran's 'Makando'?

Iranian theater director Azadeh Ansari is set to stage her Makando at the International Belaya Vezha Theatre Festival in Belarus.

Based on Gabriel Garcia Marquez's short story A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings, Ansari's play was announced as one of the best works of Tehran's 2008 International puppet theater festival.

The largest of its kind in Belarus, Belaya Vezha (White Tower) will present classical drama, innovative plays, puppet performances for children and adults, open-air presentations, carnival processions, plastic drama and modern choreography along with concerts, exhibitions and conferences.

The 2009 edition of the festival will also commemorate the 200th birth anniversary of Russian writer and playwright Nikolay Vasilevich Gogol.

The International Belaya Vezha Theatre Festival will be held from Sep. 5 - 12, 2009 in the Belarusian city of Brest.
