Ukraine hopes for prompt Belarus' World Trade Organization accession

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Belarus Ihor Likhovyi told this a press conference in Minsk.

According to the diplomat, Ukraine that joint this organization in 2007, started to feel many advantages. "The market became more open, value of many goods reduced, the economy is regulated by market methods rather than through lobbying of interests of some narrow groups and corporations," Mr Likhovyi explained. "In addition, the market became more responsible, since everyone is responsible for one's products." As the Ambassador noted, Ukraine's WTO accession promoted growing of direct investments into the country. Therefore, their volume made up USD 3.4 million in the first half of 2008.
