Warsaw Uprising exhibition in Minsk

An exhibition featuring photos and archive films concerning the Warsaw Uprising of 1944 has opened at the National Museum of Culture and History of Belarus in Minsk.

Head of the Exhibitions, Publications And Historical Education Department of Polish Institute of National Remembrance (IPN) Jacek Pawlowicz told the Polish Radio that the exhibition should interest the people of Belarus as they know very little about the history of the Uprising.

"The Warsaw Uprising was an act of bravery and heroism. After we see the exhibition, it appears that also Belarussians took part in it.," said Museum's director Sergiusz Wieczar.

Belarusian Vice-Minister of Culture Walery Giedroyc while talking on the Warsaw Uprising said: "Those people, who took up arms against the strong enemy, deserve respect".

The exposition was prepared thanks to the co-operation between IPN, Polish Institute in Minsk as well as Belarusian institutions.

Thanks to the exhibition residents of Belarus will have an opportunity to get some more knowledge on the Warsaw Uprising.

The Warsaw Uprising began on August 1944 and lasted 63 days in heroic defeat.
