Russia detains 571 kg of meat on border with Belarus

MOSCOW, August 30 (Itar-Tass) - Russia has thwarted an attempt to bring 571 kilograms of poor-quality meat products from Belarus. A truck carrying 171 kilograms of bacon and 400 kilograms of pork and veal presumably of Polish origin was stopped at the Smolensk customs checkpoint on the Russia-Belarus border.

The food products were transported in unequipped Mercedes vehicles without any veterinary certificates and permission from the Russian agricultural authorities to export meat products into Russia.
