Gazprom threatens to cut gas exports to Belarus by 30%

MOSCOW. Aug 3 (Interfax-GIA) - Gazprom will reduce gas exports to Belarus by 30% if the country fails to pay off the remainder of its debt before the end of next week, Gazprom spokesman Sergei Kupriyanov said.

The decrease would be proportional to Belarus' debt, Kupriyanov told Moscow radio station Ekho Moskvy.

Earlier on Friday, Belarusian gas transmission operator Beltransgaz repaid $190 million of the country's $456 million debt. Before that, Gazprom threatened to cut its exports by 45%.
