Latvia: Diplomat Will Not Return
Latvia will not send one of its diplomats back to Belarus for his own safety, Latvia's Foreign Ministry said Aug. 14. Belarusian authorities accused the diplomat of distributing gay porn and also aired footage on Belarusian state TV from a hidden camera in the diplomat's apartment allegedly showing him engaged in homosexual sex. The Latvian Foreign Ministry said the footage was fabricated and that the search of the diplomat's quarters broke the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.
