Belarus won't lose sovereignty in union state - Lukashenko

MINSK, August 8 (Itar-Tass) - Belarus, in the process of building a union state with Russia, will not lose its sovereignty, Belarussian President Alexander Lukashenko stated on Tuesday, at a conference with representatives of the republic in inter-state executive bodies.

"The establishment of a full-fledged Union State remains our main priority," Lukashenko said noting that "Belarus won't lose its sovereignty no matter how much good-for-nothing politicians speculate on this theme. We are building one Union with the Russians under equitable terms," the Belarussian leader emphasized.

Addressing the republic's representatives in inter-state bodies, Lukashenko placed an emphasis on the fact that "it's necessary to inform the population of Belarus and Russia more systematically about the advantages of the Union State, and the countries' achievements in this or that sphere."

"To this end, one should make popular interesting programs. You, too, should use everything to appear on various Russian programs, Russian channels, and the radio, and speak to the printed mass media," the president noted.
