European Parliament should discuss Belarus - Polish MEPs say

Polish MEPs want the European Parliament to discuss the situation in Belarus and the persecution of the Polish ethnic minority there. Speaking at a meeting of the foreign affairs commission, Jacek Saryusz-Wolski from the liberal Civic Platform, said that the regime's crack down on ethnic Poles is above all an action against democracy. He said that the international community, especially the EU, should take firm action, for example to step up diplomatic sanctions against the authoritarian regime of Belarus' President Alexander Lukashenko.
